Heya, everyone, the shop is now officially OPEN for business! Come on over and see what’s new…!
Well, it could have been better…and it also could have been a lot, lot worse.
On one hand, sales were not as good as I would have liked. In comparison to last year, when I made a respectable killing well into the hundreds, this year didn’t see me go beyond two hundred. In fact, it wasn’t anywhere close to that. The kill itself was more like a gentle maiming. That was not what I was hoping for.
What may have contributed to the poor sales was that the festival run itself was shortened by two days. As opposed to having eight days in which to set up shop, I only had six — and one day of that time I actually got rained out. Bad luck all the way around.
But on the other hand, the obvious silver lining of this is that I am spared from having to make too many new things for next season. The stock is still mostly intact. Next production run, I may only have to make a handful of new items as opposed to a whole truck load. I realize that this might not be the most professional mindset to have, but you know what? It’s going to save me money in the long run — although I might splurge on beads anyway just to make myself feel better about not doing well.
Some people binge on a questionable vice when they’re feeling down — I buy shinies.
To add insult to injury, I nearly sold THIS ONE.
Yep, Isis nearly went home with someone.
A woman came by the table, we started chatting, I started pitching this set right here, and she clearly liked it enough to not only ask how much, but to also TRY IT ON EVEN AFTER SHE KNEW THE PRICE TAG.
It also looked AMAZING on her.
Gods, I was pouting so hard when she walked away.
But, what sales I did make were nice enough in their own right. A lot of earrings sold, and two of the newer sets went as well. I made back the table no problem, and the exposure is always a good thing.
I just wish there had been more of a financial gain.
But, we move on. I’ll start hunting around for other events in the area for around the holiday shopping season, and see what happens.
Stay tuned, friends! The Etsy shop reopens on Labor Day!
My queue just ran out.
Time to assemble another one, I suppose…!
Also, I should probably make proper use of my time and
stop being a lazy bum actually get some of my own work up here for a change.
So, please try not to be alarmed if this blog is quiet for a bit — I’m just trying to get organized, here…!
